Quick Update

Hello! It has been a long, long time since I've posted on this blog, so I wanted to take a minute to stop in to say "Hi" to anyone who may still be out there following along!

After The Crafter's Cafe closed up shop and my time with the Robyn's Fetish Design Team ended, I have had a lot going on. Work has been crazy busy and seems to take up so much time, I just don't get to play with paper as much as I was! :(

I still occasionally hide away and do a little creating, mostly cards and small gifts, but then, about 2 weeks ago, everything changed!

My hubby of 13 years was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer!

He spoke with his doctor about sharp pains he was feeling in his RIGHT side... the doc ordered an ultra-sound to check for gall stones. He found no stones but saw a "spot" on his kidney that didn't look right.

He referred us to a urologist, who ordered a CT Scan.

It turned out that, after looking at the kidneys, from both sides, that he had a "large, cancerous mass" on his LEFT side!! Apparently, the "spot" the first doctor noticed on the right side may have been a shadow of the tumor, it had grown so large! At no time, ever, did he have any symptoms that may have indicated his cancer!

He immediately scheduled surgery and last Friday (a week ago), we had the entire kidney removed, along with the mass! The pathology results showed that the tumor was "encapsulated" and had not ruptured or spread, which is good news. The doc said it was the largest tumor he had ever removed from a patient... it was about the size of a basketball, or a large dinner plate!!

We are now on the road to recovery and tomorrow morning, he will have his 52 staples removed from his belly!! The incision runs all the way across his tummy and down the right side... he is out of work until November!

He's doing well and is walking up and down stairs (slowly)... he is anxious to get out of the house and start eating "normal" food! :)

Just want to give a quick shout-out to Dr. Saleh, Dr. Godfrey and the staff at the Bradford Regional Medical Center Critical Care Unit!! Thank you all so very much for the attention and care you provided for my hubby!!

So, that's what I've been up to!! Just wanted to stop in and let ya'll know that i"m thinking about you!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 155: Easel Cards

Hi Everybody and "Hello" to a new week!

Sure do hope you enjoyed our "What's Cookin' Kitchen Images" Blog Hop
and had a chance to grab some of the delightful new RF designs! (-:

This week, the
Robyn's Fetish Challenge theme is:
Easel Cards
and we're being sponsored by
 A Day for Daisies

I just LOVE the whimsical design of Tammy's images and it is always a pleasure to work with her!!

The winner will receive a $12 Certificate to the ADFD Store!

I chose "Butterfly A" for my project this week.

With permission from ADFD, I converted the image to a cutting file that can be used with my Eclips (-:
I imported the digi into my Sure Cuts a Lot software, traced it, flipped it, welded it, then did a "Print and Cut" onto some beautiful papers from the DCWV Heirloom Stack!

I used a Sizzix Embossing Folder for the background, and as you can see, in a few spots, some of the white core of the paper is showing through... I must have had the sandwich not quite right in my Big Kick and it embossed deeply enough to actually tear the paper a little... bit of a bummer, actually!!

The spots on the butterfly are Tim Holtz "Broken China" Distressed Stickles... who know glitter glue could get "distressed"... (-:

Every week, I try something a little "out of the box" and "different" to try to inspire you to play in our Robyn's Fetish Challenges! We welcome ALL paper craft projects and love to see how creative you can be with our Challenge Themes!!

Hopefully, this week, you'll try making an Easel Card and will join our challenge for a chance to WIN!!!

See you next time!

Here are a few challenges I would like to enter:

A Day for Daisies: Your Favorite Technique: I LOVE to go "outside the box" and try new and different things, and I also LOVE my Eclips and try to find new and different ways to use it! (-:

Brown Sugar Challenge Blog: Step or Easel Card. The projects posted by this DT are fascinating and I see a few things I know I'll be trying soon! (-:

Nutcrafters: Shaped Cards: I just found this challenge thru Feline Playful, but they have some cute digis and I'm sure I'll visit again!!

Robyn's Fetish What's Cookin' Kitchen Images Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the "What's Cookin' Kitchen Images Blog Hop"

You should have arrived here from SANDRA'S blog

If you've just arrived and would like to start from the beginning,

Over the next 2 days, our team will be treating you
to some adorable new cooking themed images
that you're sure to love!

Make sure you leave a comment at every stop along the hop
and you'll be entered to win!!

The GRAND PRIZE is the Winner’s choice of THREE
of the NEW “WHAT’S COOKIN’” KITCHEN digital stamps.

Also, randomly scattered through the hop,
there will be 5 winners that will each receive
ONE of the NEW “WHAT’S COOKIN’” KITCHEN IMAGES
that are on 5 of the DT members’ blogs.

Here is my project:

The name of the image is "Cooking Mouse", so I figured a yellow
(cheese-colored) recipe box was appropriate...

The box is actually in another SVGCuts.com collection
called Christmas Open House

I colored Miss Mouse with Copics, Sharpies and Prismacolor Pencils.
The papers are all from DCWV...

Here's a picture with the top on:

The original recipe box file has a cute little handle on top
but I didn't get a chance to put it on before time ran out to get ready for today's hop... if I choose to give this box as a gift, there are a few embellishments I will probably add to the top, just to dress it up a little...
but for today, I really wanted you to see the "Cooking Mouse"
and I hope you'll visit the rest of the hop
to see all the other "What's Cookin' Kitchen Images"!

Now it's time to head on over to SUE'S Blog
to see what crafty goodness she has cooked up!

Here is the complete hop list in case you get lost along the way
or have to take a break and come back!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 154: Anything Goes

**ETA** Imagine my surprise this morning when my newest Robyn's Fetish Challenge Project was not posted on my blog!!??!! With a little research, I found that I did indeed write up the post and was not losing my mind... I did, however, schedule it for the wrong day!

So, without further adieu... here is the originally scheduled post for your viewing pleasure! (-:

Hope the rest of the day works out a little more on "schedule" (especially nap time, since I didn't get home til almost 2am after work last night!!)

Hello and Howdy, friends!

Today a new challenge starts at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog.
It's everyone favorite "Anything Goes"
and our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish.

The winner will received 3 images of their choice from the Robyn's Fetish Shop!

I got to play with one of the new images released in the Blog Hop last fall:
Jennie the Scarecrow

While it may be early to start thinking about scarecrows, we are definitely heading into Spring and time to set up our new, fresh, lovely gardens... I colored Jennie in all pastels to make sure you think of spring when you see her! :)

I used Prismacolor Pencils and Sharpie markers for coloring!

I used a "Lever" card style, which is pretty cool in real life. When you open the card, the image flips with the cardstock...

The little flowers and the "Smile" sentiment are Stampin Up Rubons I found in my stash drawer the other day. The flower is a pretty nifty little number from a K & Company booklet... pop them out, layer them up and voila, finished little embellie!

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure you pop on over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog to take a look at all the lovelies created by the RF Team!!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 153: Fairies

Good morning, friends and
Happy Easter

We're off to a bit of a late start this morning
with Easter Baskets and the overall
joy of Easter!

Today I want to share a card I made
with the most beautiful fairy:
Fairy Fae from Delicious Doodles

Fairy Fae from Delicious Doodles

and we are being sponsored by DELICIOUS DOODLES

The PRIZE for this challenge is

4 digital stamps of the winner's choice from the

For my card, I colored the gorgeous image with Prismacolor Pencils.
The color combo was inspired by the Bo Bunny papers
from the "Gabrielle" collection.

Her wings are painted with Tattered Angels "Glam" glitter paint,
so they have quite a bit of sparkle
that's doesn't show up very well in the picture.

The swirl, butterflies, and corners were cut out
from a variety of files from SVGCuts.com,
using my Sizzix Eclips (of course) :)
That is also glitter-coated paper from DCWV.

The centers of the flowers, swirls and butterflies
have tiny little gems from Making Memories.

There are a few tiny touches of Copic Spica in "Sand", too.

Overall, this card just shimmers in the light
and it's hard to show in pictures!

There are so many "Spring" themed challenges this week
listed at Feline Playful, so to be fair,
I have chosen just a few I'd like to enter:

Chocolate, Coffee and Cards: Bring on Spring
Creative Corner Challenges, Anything Goes
My Heart Pieces, Angels and Fairies
Kenny K's Krafty Krew, Being Square
One Stitch at a Time, Spring
2 Sisters, Sparkle and Shine

And don't forget, we're having a
Robyn's Fetish Blog Hop
April 10th-12th

We'll be featuring BRAND NEW
Kitchen Images
and you won't want to miss it!!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 152: Food or Drink

Good morning, friends!
I'd like to share the card I made for the 152nd challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog.
The theme this week is: Food or Drink and we are being sponsored by The Paper Shelter.
The winner will receive a $20 Gift Certificate
to the Paper Shelter Store
Here's my card:
I got to work with an adorable image called "Cool Waitress", which you can get at the shop HERE
Isn't she adorable? You should see the samples created by TPS DT members at the shop! WOW!

I was actually inspired by the theme of the challenge at The Drunken Stampers LAST week: Grease! I didn't get to enter, but the theme really got my gears a-spinnin'... and since I was the "Life of the Party" last week, I wanted to make sure I gave them a little shout-out! Thanks my drunken friends for choosing me as the winner of the "16 Candles" Challenge!! (-:

When I saw this little roller-skating cutie, it made me think of the 50's style drive-ins and for some reason, the whole time I was making this card, I was singing "Beauty School Drop-out"... I've got my little "Pink Lady" and my "Pink Cadillac" and I don't think anyone would leave this little cutie "Stranded at the Drive-In", do you?

Y'know that hind-sight is always 20/20 right? Now that I'm looking at my completed card, I sure wish the pink background piece was patterned or embossed or something... c'est la vie!

The card frame and 50's Cadillac are actually cut files from SVGCuts.com in the "Rockin and Rollin'" and "Everyday Cards" kits.

I sure hope you'll head over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog and join us for the "Food or Drink" Challenge and enter for your chance to win a $20 prize!!!

Guest Designing for Twist of Faith

This week, the challenge at Twist of Faith is Easter!
The challenge is being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and the winner will receive their choice of FIVE images from the RF Shop!

I was so honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer this week!

The "twist" at this challenge is to include some scripture or verse as part of the theme.
There are so many verses about Easter available, it's quite an easy challenge this week!!

I worked with the "Easter Egg" image from the Robyn's Fetish shop.

"Faith is not believing that God can,
it is knowing that God will!"

Here are some details about my card:

I paper-pieced the egg and flower using papers from "Sugar and Spice", a Doodlebug Design Collection.
The card style is a "Center-step" card. The middle panel is raised up a little higher than the sides.

All the "dot" details are Liquid Pearls "Petal Pink". The flower is from a silk arrangement, with added Glossy Accents and pearls. The only coloring on this entire card is the green leaves! The paper is just so perfect for this image that no other embellishment seemed necessary!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for such an uplifting challenge!

I hope you'll join me over at Twist of Faith this week and share your Easter projects!

'Til next time!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #151: Must Use GREEN

Good morning, friends!

First of all, Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

And Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby!!

Ha Ha! Now you're older than me again!!

This week, the challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog is "Must Use Green".
Our sponsor is The Cutting Cafe!
The winner will receive any THREE sets from the Cutting Cafe Store!

I got to work with the "One Spring Day" set, which includes almost 90 different images.
Our challenge was to use GREEN and to use as many pieces from the set as we could in one project!

I used 6 pieces in my project:
The flower border strip, 3 different flowers, the subway art "Happy Spring" and the "Happy Spring" sentiment circle. The only coloring I did was the little green centers of the flower border. The rest is all "Print and Cut" with my Eclips!

I took another photo of my card this morning! I'm still getting used to the camera I got for Christmas and all its settings! It amazes me how different a picture can look in different lighting conditions. This morning, there is a little sunshine in my craft room windows and in all natural light, my card looks completely different!!

Hope you'll show off all your Green this week
and share with us at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge!!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 150: Birthday Cards

Good morning friends!
Since we changed to "Daylight Savings Time",
I'm going to save time today and get right to it!

This week's challenge is CHALLENGE # 150 "BIRTHDAY CARDS"

CHALLENGE # 150 is sponsored by

Hi, I'm Lyn, aka Spyder,  owner and soul digi artist and scribbler for Spyder's Other Corner. I started my little digi store a year after I started blogging with a few little bears and a weekly freebie and it's slowly grown since then. My claim to fame are having single cartoons and cartoon strips in National and local News Papers, Magazines, Adverts and even on plastic shopping bags! I can usually change anything you find in the store to suit your needs, a name added or maybe something removed! Someone once wanted a belly button removed from a bear and a spider's web taken off a toadstool!
All my digis are hand drawn and then tidied up on my laptop, so there will be wobbly bits! Most of them come as a Jpeg and PNG. Anything you need specially, I can usually do for you. I'm very pleased to be asked to sponsor Robin's Fetish Challenges, and wish everyone Happy Crafting!

The PRIZE for this challenge is

5 digital stamps of the winner's choice from the

I made a card and gift box set using Spyder's Birthday Bear.
The papers are  from GCD Studios (a pack I picked up at Big Lots).
The ice cream cones are buttons with the loops chopped off.
I colored with Sharpie markers and Prismacolor pencils.

This is called a "Secret Box" and can be found HERE
I made the bow on top with 3/4" strips of the same papers.

My oldest son is turning 12 this Tuesday!!
We're having a family get-together for him today
with cake and ice cream.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AJ!!
LOVE YOU!!

There are quite a few challenges this week I'd like to enter:

A Creative Need, Birthdays
Stampin with the Dragon, Anything Goes
Eclectic Ellapu, Birthdays
Hobby Cutz, Anything Goes with a Blog Hop
One Stitch at a Time, Anything Goes
Drunken Stamper, Sixteen Candles

Robyn's Fetish Challenge 149: Easter

So, have you ever completely LOST an ENTIRE day?
Or have you ever gone through the day, thinking it was another day altogether?

Yesterday, I spent the whole day thinking it was FRIDAY!

I loaded my Robyn's Fetish card in our Design Team Group "on time" and headed out to work...
around 10pm last night, someone mentioned Sunday church service in the morning and it suddenly occurred to me that it was actually SATURDAY!!

How in the world did I lose my "other" Friday?

If anyone sees an extra FRIDAY laying around, please send it back to me, because mine was lost!

Or maybe that's just my mind... but I think I lost that a long time ago! (-:

So, anyways... this weeks challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog is EASTER!

CHALLENGE # 149 is sponsored

I chose to make a corner bookmark this week:

I colored the flowers all in shades of purple,
the traditional Easter color!

And I hope they can get it figured out in time for Easter Sunday mass!

Easter will be here before we know it!

Time to get to work making all your Easter cards!

Robyn's Fetish #148: Use Ribbon or Twine

Hello and welcome to another installment of the Robyn's Fetish Challenge.
Seems that's all I've been posting on this blog lately... gotta do something about that!

anyways...

Our challenge this week is brought to you by the letter A and the number 4...
oh, wait, nevermind... they never did tell us how to get to Sesame St, did they?

So, our Sponsor Extraordinaire this week is: Wings and Willows and you can find them on Facebook or in their Etsy Shop... the winner will surely be happy to win a $10 Gift Certificate to use at either place!

I played with "Jungle Buddies" this week, and of course, I followed our challenge theme: use ribbon or twine...

When you think "twine" and you think "jungle", I hope you get something like this:

Kinda stuck my watermark right over top of some of the twine, so you can't see the little banner I made with twine and leaves, but you get the point... right?

The papers are from K&Company, the swirls are from the SVG Cuts.com "Swirlies" collection. The little burlap patch was an RAK from my friend Patti. Colored my little monkey and banana tree with Copics and there you have it, folks... quite a cute little bugger, isn't he!?!

See ya next time...

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #147: Winter Cards with Snow

Hi everyone...

It's time again (already) for a new challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog.
This week, our theme is Winter Cards with Snow!

Our sponsor is Jellypark and the winner will receive their choice of any TWO images from the Jellypark store, except fundraisers.... but while you're at the JP shop, it's not a bad idea to check out the fundraisers... there are a variety of charities to support and every little bit helps!!

For my card this week, I got to play with Robin and Bird House.

I was trying to go with a "Clean and Simple" look, by printing the image directly on the card front and only adding the lacy ribbon bow, then I saw the "Battenburg Lace and Crochet Trim" collection from SVGCuts and HAD to have it!! This is the reason I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Eclips!! This little lacy trim piece was cut at 4.25" wide and there was not one snag!! So delicate and intricate and it cut like a breeze!

So, I just have to share a little story this week before you go!

Friday night at work was a little rough! It was snowing, which of course means we're busy! At one point, we had well over 100 people in our dining room... all skiers! There was a bit of a ruckus and some of the kids started getting a little loud, so I went out to see what was going on... it turns out, some of our charming Guests (and I use that term generously) decided it would be fun to have a bonfire on our picnic tables outside... thankfully, the tables are all stone, so no harm was done, but they got everyone wound up...

Around 10:30 pm, the door to the ladies room was acting strange, not opening or closing properly. One of my employees climbed up on a ladder to try to fix the closer-thingy. He was banging and making a ton of noise, so I went in to see what was going on. As I walked through the door and said "What's going on?", he jumped a little (I must have startled him), and he DROPPED HIS HAMMER ON MY HEAD!!

No, you can't make this up!! It is 100% true!

I let out a few choice words as my knees buckled and I crumpled to the floor... brought tears to my eyes pretty quick, I must say!

So, I went to the ER and they did at CT Scan to see if there was any internal damage or concussion. The results came back clear... now I'm assuming that meant there was no brain damage, but my hubby is insisting it was CLEAR, because there's nothing in there!! Ha Ha Ha.... ain't he funny!?!  LOL!! (-:

Gotta find the funny in everyday stuff, right?

Nothing funny about the 3-6" of snow we're getting today... more skiers, and more of some kind of mess to clean up or fix... luckily, I'll have a couple days off, but, frankly, I'm just about ready for winter to finish up altogether and move on...

But since it's still winter, and there's still snow, I sure hope you'll pop over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge blog and join us for our Winter Cards with Snow Challenge!!

See how I brought that all together? Pretty smooth, eh? (-:

See you next time!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #146, Paper Piecing

Hello Peeps.

I'm back with another installment of the weekly Robyn's Fetish Challenge!

This week, we are sponsored by My Heart Pieces and the winner will receive THREE images of their choice! Fabulous, right?

Our theme this week is PAPER PIECING and I got to use a cute image from the My Heart Pieces Shop called: "Bathing Fairy". You can find it HERE.

As you know, I did a little paper piecing for last week's project, too, for my bee's body and wings... it really is quite fun to see a digital image come to life with patterned paper and it adds so much depth and texture to a project.

When my boys were babies, we always used the Johnson's Lavender scented body wash for them, because it did tend to sooth and relax them when it was bed time... so when I saw the bath image, I was thinking relaxation and chose to work with the "Chateau Lavender" mat stack from DCWV...

I cut out the tea cup, the flowers, the stem, the wings, the slippers, the shampoo bottle, the comb, and the sunglasses! WHEW! That's a lot of fussy cutting!!

The bubbles are a mixture of liquid pearls (white opal) and Stickles (diamond). In real life, they look all shimmery and "bubbly"! (-:

The swirly background is from Bird's Cards... she has some of the most amazing FREE SVG files!! This one is called "Swirly Frame 6"... let me tell you, frames one through five are JUST as fantastic!!! I cut the frame in white, the shadow layer in lavender, then popped it on a stipey piece...

The polka dotted flower behind my fairy was cut with the "Blossom" Nestie then trimmed out in more Stickles...

Every paper on the card came from one mat stack! Aren't I all "Matchy-Matchy" this week? LOL!!

I hope you'll join us this week over at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog for Challenge Number 146... Paper Piecing is so fun, I really hope you'll give it a try!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #145: Have a Heart

This week, the challenge at the Robyn's Fetish challenge blog is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish!
The winner will receive their choice of any THREE images from the Robyn's Fetish Store!

The theme of the challenge this week is:
"Have a Heart": the only twist is that your creation must include THREE hearts!

I used "Bee Mine", which comes with it's own sentiment as well!

I wanted to take a second to share a little trick I learned for paper-piecing with dark or black papers.
It might be obvious to some, but to others it may be their "Ah-Hah Moment", so here ya go:

Print the image on yellow paper, then flip the image and print it on the BACK of the black/patterned paper. It makes it easier to see the image and cut out the pieces of his wings and body to piece into place!

And don't be afraid to print digis on colored paper... there's no reason to print on white paper, then color it all yellow, right?

The bee hive is an SVG file I found a long time ago... see THIS POST!

That's about it for this week!
See you all over at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #144: Use Ribbon and Brads

Hi Everybody!
Whew! Another crazy weekend at work and I'm just relieved to be off all day Sunday!
The people I work with work are so talented and dedicated, and they continue to impress me every day!
I just want to give them all a little shout-out, even though none of them knows about this blog!
Great job, Team 532!! Couldn't do it without you!! <3

OK... on to this week's Robyn's Fetish Challenge!

This week, we are sponsored by Digital Paper Craft and the winner will receive $12 worth of items from the DIGITAL PAPER CRAFT ETSY STORE!! Thank you to our sponsor! That is a great prize!

Our challenge this week is to ADD SOME RIBBON AND BRADS!

I used the "Little Boy 2 Softball" image, which you can find HERE AT THIS LINK.
He is available in black and white as well as a colored version!

My star brads are from Doodlebug Design Inc and the "Happy Birthday" ribbon was in a Martha Stewart set of sentiment ribbons.

I hope you'll stop over to visit our Robyn's Fetish Blog and take a swing at our newest challenge!

Til next time!
Adios!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #143: Round Cards

Hey Diddle Diddle,
The Cat and the fiddle,
The Cow jumped over the moon,
The little Dog laughed to see such fun
And the Dish ran away with the Spoon!

While browsing through the shop of
our sponsor:
to find a digi for this weeks'
Round Cards Challenge

I found Tulip the Cow

and knew exactly what I was going to do

for this weeks' challenge!

I printed Tulip on paper from the Echo Park "Sweet Day" pad
and cut the moon and stars (an SVGCuts.com freebie) from the same pad.

The other ladies on the Robyn's Fetish team have
gone all out this time 'round and have some great work to show you.

I hope you stop over to visit the challenge blog and see!!

The PRIZE  for this challenge is

7 digital stamps of the winner's choice from

And don't forget, we have a new Facebook Page!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #142

This weeks' challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog is to
create a project using PINK, PURPLE and LACE!

We are sponsored this week by Broken Box Stock and the images in their shop are cute, cute and cute!
My favorite part is that they come in an already-colored version!!

And the winner gets TWO complete pages of NINE digis in two themes: "Everyday Toodles" and "Holiday Toodles"! What a GREAT prize!! EIGHTEEN digis, altogether!!

I got to work with Surprise Toodles!

Now, remember last week, I told ya'll that Santa brought me a new camera...

I'm still fiddling with it and trying to figure out how to take decent pictures ...

Somehow, everything looks a little yellow-ish, but I think that's the light in my craft room...

It's a pretty nice camera, so I'm convinced it is 100% operator error!

The background paper is really a soft, pink pastel and the swirls on the side are actually purple!
The paper came from the DCWV Chateau Lavender matstack... by the name of the paper, I'm sure you can tell that it's a lavender color, even if it looks icky here!

And the lace is actually PINK.... go figure! The only thing that looks pink or purple on my card is the Recollections Flower and the pink present in the digi... Even the little girls look orange!?!
