Use a Doily! Robyn's Fetish Challenge

Hello, friends.

Well, as many of you already know, I work in a Ski Resort Town!

You also probably know that all schools are closed the week between Christmas and New Years, which means there are hundreds of kids with TONS of free time!

And if you've watched the news, you are probably aware of the nearly THREE FEET of snow that has fallen on Western New York over the past week!

Combine all those things and you can probably figure out what I've been doing all weekend!

It has been an absolute MADHOUSE at work and I've been putting in 13+ hours a day since last Wednesday!

I thought I had set my Robyn's Fetish Challenge post to "auto-pilot", but alas, I did not...
so, although it is a day late, I want to share my project with you!

Our sponsor is "Stitchy Bear Stamps".

The winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate!

WOW! That's a pretty great prize!

The challenge theme this week is:

USE A DOILY!

Here's my card, using the digital image "Sweet Treats".
Santa brought me a new camera for Christmas, and I'm still getting used to using it.
Some of the colors aren't looking quite right, so I have to fiddle with the "indoor" and "close-up" settings to get it right, but you get the idea!

My doily is a cut out from the SVGCuts.com Doily Collection.
The papers are from the DCWV "Sweets" mat stack.

Here's another picture, with a little better coloring!
But this one looks blurry and has shadows...
but the colors look more like the "real thing"...

Hmmm... I'll eventually figure it out! (-:

Hope you'll pop over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog and see the awesome cards the rest of the team has posted! As you'll see, there are LOTS of creative ways to USE A DOILY!

Cards for Children

Our theme this week is
Cards for Children

and our sponsor is Bugaboo!

I opted for fun and simple this week!
I have two boys and they're not in to flowers and pretty things
and I had them in mind when I made this card.

I used "Puffy Paint" on the snow, and paper pieced the letters.

The card actually measures 6" across, so there's lots of room inside
to send a special message to my little ones!

Hope you'll pop over to Robyns' Fetish Challenge Blog
and see the cute stuff our team has made!

The winner of this challenge will win a $21 voucher to the Bugaboo Shop!!

Thanks for popping in today and see you soon!

Robyn's Fetish Snowman Challenge

Good morning! Yes, I made it, albeit a little late! It's been quite a week!
Susan, our RF DT Coordinator has been oh-so-very patient with me and I appreciate her so much!
I know how much work is involved with coordinating a large team and she is an ACE!
THANK YOU to Susan and all my RF DT sistah's... I will do my best to stay on track now! (-:

This week, the Robyn's Fetish Challenge theme is: Snowmen!
We're being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and the winner will get THREE new digis!

For my card, I used "Home for the Holidays", which you can find at the RF Shop!

This was a pretty easy card to put together, once I saw the sketch at The Sweetest Thing

Can you believe I actually made an entire card without using my E-Clips? I know, amazing, right?!?
I sure do love me some paper "architecture"! Cutting and assembling 3-D paper projects is so fun, but this week, I actually challenged myself to make a project without it, and I did have fun!!

I hope you'll join us this week at Robyn's Fetish and show us all your snowmen!!

There are a few challenges I would like to enter this week, including a BRAND NEW one at The Stamping Shack! The Stamping Shack has just recently joined our community at The Crafter's Cafe and I'm sure you'll love the images in their shop!

Also, one of my favorite challenge blogs, The Order of the Opus Gluei... their theme this week is "Baby it's Cold Outside" and they have challenged us to take inspiration from our favorite Christmas song or carol... well, my favorite Christmas movie, aside from The Grinch, is Frosty the Snowman... this little guy sure is a "jolly, happy soul"... although his corncob pipe appears to have gone missing...

Another of my favorite spots to visit is Guylou's Inimitability! Their challenge this week is: "Snow Happy"...  I'm just happy I got my card done this week, after all the other stuff we had going on!

The challenge at QKR Stampede is "Snowmen, Snow Angels, Snowballs, Snow Fun!"

And one more... Stampin with the Dragon. The theme this week is "Heard a Bird Sing"... well, my little snowman has two birdie friends!

Tic Tac Toe with Robyn's Fetish

Good morning, friends!

A new challenge starts today at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog!
I just hope this post goes up as it should, because our company Christmas party is this weekend and we will be staying overnight there! Woo-Hoo! Date night! (-:

So... this is a fun challenge!

Our sponsor is Di's Digi Downloads and our challenge theme is:

Tic Tac Toe!

Here's the board we used:
and here is my project!

I used something from EVERY box on the board!

Here: I'll break it down for you!

1. The Red and Green is pretty obvious.
The papers are Basic Grey, Nordic Christmas pack
for the red stripes and the snowman liners in the drawers.

2. Embossing: Swirls Cuttlebug folder

3. Green Lace for him to sit on

4.Distressing: I used TH Broken China Distress Ink
for the edges of the Snowman panels and roughed up
the edges of the band around his hat.

5. Christmas punch or Die Cut: the snowman is a Die Cut file from the
and the drawers are a FREE matchbox file from Birds Cards
I cut out four of them, arranged them on a 5" x 5" base
and this became my base!
I forgot to take a picture with his hat off,
but he is actually a goodie container
with lots of space for Hershey Kisses! (MMM!!!)

The entire card was created using my EClips die cutting machine!

6. I guess the Poinsettia is pretty obvious too! (-:
I got it from the Dollar Store! (-:

7. I used buttons for the drawer pulls. I sewed them on to little ribbon loops
and used Glue Dots to attach them over the ric rac.

8. Bow/Ribbon: well, there's ribbon in the drawer pulls
and also used ribbon for his scarf.

9. Glitter: I used rum punch Glimmer Mist (glitter spray)
for his hat and also on the petals of the poinsettia!

SO!!

If I can use ALL NINE items on the board,
I'm SURE you can create any project using
just the THREE you would need for a Tic Tac Toe!!

Come on over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog
and show me whatcha got!! (-:

25 November 2012

Is it really Sunday already??

Wow! This week sure did fly by fast!!
Before I show you my card this week for the Robyn's Fetish Challenge, I wanted to take a second to tell you about my experience Thursday night at Target!
I have NEVER gone "Black Friday" shopping and to think that the stores were actually opening on Thanksgiving Day really bugged me just a little bit! But we went to visit my MIL and she saw some deals too great to pass up in their "Doorbusters" ad, so we braved the crowd to try our luck!

When we arrived at Target at 8:40, there was already a line halfway around the building and the security people were handing out slips of colored paper. Their explanation was: "When we open at 9, we're letting in 30 people at a time, in intervals, and we're separating the groups of 30 with these slips"... OK...
We found our place at the end of the line and at 9pm, the line started inching forward... a little bit at a time, we got closer to the front doors... by 9:06, we were inside the store!!
Nice and orderly, no pushing, shoving, trampeling, or chaos at ALL!!

All the "Doorbuster" items were in piles in the main aisle as we walked in the door and there were LOTS of each thing in the ad!! I snagged a deal or two (-:

The electronics department was roped off and there was a line to get in, but, again, it was very calm and orderly and it seemed like there were plenty of products to go around!

We got what we came for and went to check out. There was an employee at the end of the roped off cashier's area directing traffic along the back wall, through the grocery department and along the side wall... we found our place at the end of the line, and when we got to the check out area, there was a guy directing everyone to registers... We were out the door by 9:52!!

I couldn't believe how PLEASANT the whole experience was!

Three cheers for Target in Gates, NY (outside Rochester) for an outstanding experience!!
Thank you for having everything planned out and SO very organized and orderly!

OK... that's really all I wanted to say!!
Now, my card for this week:

The challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Blog this week is:

Black and White plus ONE other color!

Our sponsor is "Floppy Latte Designs"!

I got to work with "Love my Striped Bonnet"... I traced the image in E-CAL, then cut out the flowers in pink. This card took about 10 minutes to complete, from start-to-finish, but I love how it turned out!

OK, I'll admit, coming up with the "idea" took a little longer... but once I decided what I was going to do, it was done lickety-split! (-:

I used a sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy...

I hope you'll stop over to visit the Robyn's Fetish Challenge this week and join our Black and White plus One challenge!!

Make it Vintage with Robyn's Fetish and ADFD

The new challenge at the

"Make it Vintage"

Our sponsor is A Day for Daisies!

Our team was allowed  to choose from the wide variety
of vintage images from the ADFD Shop!

I chose to work with Vintage School Girl One

To me, when I saw our challenge was "Vintage",
I thought "old", like it came out of Grandma's cedar chest.

To get that "old" look, here's what I did:

I was inspired by the Chateau Lavender Mat Stack from DCWV.
Some of the papers in that pack are just stunning
with the texture and glitter... WOW!

I distressed all my edges with scissors then inked the edges
with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Ink
and cut the cameo frame with my eClips.

To get the "old" look around my school girl, I colored her with Copics,
ripped her out of the card stock to get that torn-looking edge,
then spritzed her with a little water.
I crumpled her into a ball to let the inks run,
then flattened it out to air dry.
While it was still damp, I inked the edges with TH Tea Dye.

I made the roses with my eClips and some
home-made shimmer spray.

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out
and I hope you'll join us this week
at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog
to show us how YOU

Thanks for stopping in.
See you next time!

Anything Goes this week at Robyn's Fetish

This week, the challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Blog is ANYTHING GOES!
I just love "Anything Goes", because it means I don't have any rules!!

Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish and
we got to pick any image we wanted from the RF Shop.

The first thing I thought of when I saw "Prissy Poinsettia" was decoupage

How ironic that Sue's Craftworld Tutorial last week was how to do this!

I had already created my card when her tut was posted,
but the timing could not have been more perfect!!!

It saves me a lot of time explaining how I did it!
Just click the link to Sue's tutorial...
that is exactly the same technique I used for this poinsettia!!

I did cut a few shapes with my Eclips:

the Scalloped Square from SVGCuts Nested Lacey Shapes
the Doily from SVGCuts Doilies SVG Collection,
and the tag from the ECal library.

A little green for the leaves, some gold Stickles for the berries and around the doily tips,
the background is a Sizzix embossing folder (I think it's called "frosty" or something like that),
and some glitter tape from my friend Cori at Gingersnap Scraps...

I can't say this was "easy", because fussy-cutting those flower petals was pretty time consuming,
but it was definitely not "difficult"!
It was fun and I think it turned out looking pretty classy and elegant
for some plain white paper and glitter glue!  (-:

Robyn's Fetish Card for a Man

OK, so today we're starting the Robyn's Fetish Challenge a little late.

We still haven't heard from our DT Coordinator (she is in New Jersey) and I just can't get her out of my head! Especially after seeing the new storm that is heading our way! My thoughts and prayers go out to all those still struggling with the "Franken-storm" aftermath!!

Our challenge is sponsored this week by The Crafty Pad.

The theme of the challenge is Cards for Men, and this is one of my biggest challenges! I always lean toward the "cute" and "girly", so I had to reach inside for this one!

The image I got to play with is "Albert Snoozin". He comes with a cute sentiment "A Man's Work is Never Done", but it didn't ring any bells for me in terms of getting creative. The image just makes me think of my dad, who will be turning 69 next month! Last Spring, he took my boys on several fishing expeditions and they even caught a few! I made a door hanging for him, sorta like one of those ones you see in shop windows when they've left for lunch... hopefully they really will be back soon!

I colored the image with Copics, then added a little MS Glitter on the water. A little glitter tape border and the "Swiss Dots" embossing folder really added quite a bit of texture. The hands on the clock really move and I can't remember the name of the font... just one of the many thousands I've hoarded! (-:

Here's a closer look at Albert... quite a handsome fella, don'cha think? I know my Dad doesn't follow my blog, so I think this will be a cute gift for him! (-:

I hope you'll stop over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog to take a look at the marvelous manly cards my teammies have created and if you're up for a challenge, why don't you give this one a try!?!

31 October 2012

Happy Halloween!

Wow! I just realized it's been 15 days since my last post on this blog... time sure does have a way of flying by, doesn't it??!!??

Just a quick note to my friends who have expressed concerns about us... we are fine and made it through "Franken-storm" virtually unscathed! There is some flooding in low-lying areas nearby and our power flickered a few times, but we are otherwise well! Thank you for your concern!

I'm still waiting to hear from some of my online friends in the New Jersey area and my thoughts and prayers go out to those all along our East Coast!

So, over at The Crafter's Cafe, we had a Secret Halloween Card exchange! It was sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and we all got to choose our image from the RF shop! I have been waiting patiently to post my card until I was sure it had been received by my swap buddy!

I just can't wait any longer!! I had so much fun making this pop-up stage scene!!
The bear is "Bearly a Pumpkin" from Robyn's Fetish!

The little pop-up candies and pumpkins are from Lettering Delights "Sew Spooky" set. I cut them out with my EClips, of course, and glittered like a mad woman!!

The papers are from a Martha Stewart seasonal paper pack, I just don't remember the name of it!

I made the fence using something "similar" to a Fiskars punch, with my "trace" feature in ECal. Not quite sure, but I think the haunted house was an SVGCuts freebie... it was in my "random" files, before I started getting organized and sorting things the right way on my 'puter...

I didn't take any pictures of the belly band that wrapped it all up, but it was fun, too! I made a chain of pumpkins, then glued them together to wrap around the card.... I used a template similar to this one

Have to say, I'm pretty proud of how it all turned out!

Tonight, it's my turn to take the boys out trick-or-treating while Daddy gets to stay home and scare the neighborhood kids, err, I mean, hand out bags of candy to all the little goblins!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

for my first project on the Robyn's Fetish Team!!

Sometimes, "border" digis can seem intimidating,
because people aren't sure how to use them...

I have made a simple "center step" card to show you!

I used the Pumpkin Border image as my main image
and also joined several together in a chain to create a border.

I put them together using eCal with my EClips machine
and did a "Print 2 Cut"... colored it with Copics, then tied it off with a simple bow.

I just love the versatility of digital images!!
It's so easy to print them any size, for any project!!

Hello, all my Blog-land friends!!

So, it's October already!

Do you realize there are only 82 days until Christmas!!??!!

As we head into October, it's a great time to send out a reminder
to schedule your next mammogram!!

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month!!

In honor of BCA, the team at The Stamping Boutique has posted a new challenge.

TSB is sponsoring Link Up For Pink
and I am planning to enter as many times as I can for a chance to win one of the prizes!
There are TONS of giveaways!!

www.linkupforpink.com/

Here is the first of my PINK creations for the month:

I made a 2-5-7-10 bag during our "Crafty Chat" at The Crafter's Cafe last weekend.

I colored her with my Prismacolor Pencils.
The paper is from Echo Park.

I colored the banner twice and cut out the second to pop it up for a little dimension.
She also has some Glossy Accents on her bows and boots.
Her hair barrette is pink Liquid Pearls.

This little bag will be on her way to my friend from The Crafter's Cafe.
I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Sure do hope you'll join us for the PINK PINK PINK challenge at TSB

and remember to schedule your exam!!!

See you soon!!

04 September 2012

Sometimes I feel a little silly

This week, the new challenge at The Stamping Boutique is "Labor Day".
We were asked to create anything the represents "Working People" or "Jobs"...

Well, I for one was just relieved that for Labor Day, we were actually able to attend family picnics and have fun! The roads were all clear and it was smooth sailing... I'm sure today, on the way back to work, it will be a different story!! It seems like everywhere I look, we're seeing construction zones and backed up traffic!

So, to honor all the hard-hats out there, and to thank them for taking Monday off, I created this fun little card:

I chose to work with AJ the Builder from The Stamping Boutique. I {heart} all the AJ's!!
I created the construction cone in ECal, then cut it out with my EClips... the PA state cut out is from Lettering Delights "Every State" set, which was a part of the first Simple Shapes Super Bundle and the font for my "sentiment" is "Bobo"... boy-oh-boy... using the Print-to-Cut feature on that machine sure does make short work of fussy-cutting digital images!! I just imported AJ, traced him and cut.... voila... fussy-cut in 5 minutes! (-: The papers are from My Mind's Eye and I just used a simple background because there is so much going on here! (-:

The TSB Design Team created a variety of Job Related cards including bakers, artists and even an elf!
Make sure you stop over and show them a little love!!

I originally made this for our Birthday Celebration at The Crafter's Cafe, but wanted to share it with you today as well!

I used the Lollipop Square image from The Stamping Boutique. The papers are from the DCWV Sweet Stack.

A little Glossy Accents on the candy, some pink Liquid Pearls, the Diamonds embossing folder from Sizzix, and we'll call it a day!

The Game ATC Challenge

This week at The Game Challenge Blog, I was invited to be a Guest Designer!

The team was sent a package of goodies from ARTChix Studios to use for our samples.

The theme of the new challenge is:

Remember, all the challenges at "The Game" are based on
popular games... you may know this game as
"Red Light, Green Light".
I know I played that one on the playground when I was little!!

So, for the challenge, we were to use the colors of a traffic light: red, amber and green
and make an ATC using the products from our Sponsor!

I have NEVER made an ATC before and I have to say,
it really was a lot of fun!

The collage sheets that we received in our Sponsor package were fantastic.
As I was cutting out pieces and putting things together,
I found myself giggling out loud a few times.
You'll see why in a minute!

Here are my first ever ATC's:

Here are close ups of each one:

This one made me giggle, when I cut out the green wings
from another picture in the collage
and just plopped it on top of that ladies' head!
I don't know, somehow, it just seemed to fit! LOL!! (-:

I think this one is my favorite.
But I had fun making all three!

When I made this rolled rose,
I kept thinking I must be out of my mind!
This is the tiniest rolled rose I've ever made!
It started as a 1" circle punch, if that gives you an idea
just how little it is!

Thank you to my friend Susan Guzy,
who sent the collage sheets and wooden bits
for these ATC's.
And in the package, she included bonus amber-colored cardstock
and all the little German scraps that edge each of the cards.

I appreciate the opportunity to be a Guest on the Team
and had a lot of fun working on this challenge project!

I hope LOTS of people will join us over at The Game
and show off their red, amber and green ATC's!!
