Robyn's Fetish #148: Use Ribbon or Twine

Hello and welcome to another installment of the Robyn's Fetish Challenge.
Seems that's all I've been posting on this blog lately... gotta do something about that!

anyways...

Our challenge this week is brought to you by the letter A and the number 4...
oh, wait, nevermind... they never did tell us how to get to Sesame St, did they?

So, our Sponsor Extraordinaire this week is: Wings and Willows and you can find them on Facebook or in their Etsy Shop... the winner will surely be happy to win a $10 Gift Certificate to use at either place!

I played with "Jungle Buddies" this week, and of course, I followed our challenge theme: use ribbon or twine...

When you think "twine" and you think "jungle", I hope you get something like this:

Kinda stuck my watermark right over top of some of the twine, so you can't see the little banner I made with twine and leaves, but you get the point... right?

The papers are from K&Company, the swirls are from the SVG Cuts.com "Swirlies" collection. The little burlap patch was an RAK from my friend Patti. Colored my little monkey and banana tree with Copics and there you have it, folks... quite a cute little bugger, isn't he!?!

See ya next time...

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #147: Winter Cards with Snow

Hi everyone...

It's time again (already) for a new challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog.
This week, our theme is Winter Cards with Snow!

Our sponsor is Jellypark and the winner will receive their choice of any TWO images from the Jellypark store, except fundraisers.... but while you're at the JP shop, it's not a bad idea to check out the fundraisers... there are a variety of charities to support and every little bit helps!!

For my card this week, I got to play with Robin and Bird House.

I was trying to go with a "Clean and Simple" look, by printing the image directly on the card front and only adding the lacy ribbon bow, then I saw the "Battenburg Lace and Crochet Trim" collection from SVGCuts and HAD to have it!! This is the reason I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Eclips!! This little lacy trim piece was cut at 4.25" wide and there was not one snag!! So delicate and intricate and it cut like a breeze!

So, I just have to share a little story this week before you go!

Friday night at work was a little rough! It was snowing, which of course means we're busy! At one point, we had well over 100 people in our dining room... all skiers! There was a bit of a ruckus and some of the kids started getting a little loud, so I went out to see what was going on... it turns out, some of our charming Guests (and I use that term generously) decided it would be fun to have a bonfire on our picnic tables outside... thankfully, the tables are all stone, so no harm was done, but they got everyone wound up...

Around 10:30 pm, the door to the ladies room was acting strange, not opening or closing properly. One of my employees climbed up on a ladder to try to fix the closer-thingy. He was banging and making a ton of noise, so I went in to see what was going on. As I walked through the door and said "What's going on?", he jumped a little (I must have startled him), and he DROPPED HIS HAMMER ON MY HEAD!!

No, you can't make this up!! It is 100% true!

I let out a few choice words as my knees buckled and I crumpled to the floor... brought tears to my eyes pretty quick, I must say!

So, I went to the ER and they did at CT Scan to see if there was any internal damage or concussion. The results came back clear... now I'm assuming that meant there was no brain damage, but my hubby is insisting it was CLEAR, because there's nothing in there!! Ha Ha Ha.... ain't he funny!?!  LOL!! (-:

Gotta find the funny in everyday stuff, right?

Nothing funny about the 3-6" of snow we're getting today... more skiers, and more of some kind of mess to clean up or fix... luckily, I'll have a couple days off, but, frankly, I'm just about ready for winter to finish up altogether and move on...

But since it's still winter, and there's still snow, I sure hope you'll pop over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge blog and join us for our Winter Cards with Snow Challenge!!

See how I brought that all together? Pretty smooth, eh? (-:

See you next time!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #146, Paper Piecing

Hello Peeps.

I'm back with another installment of the weekly Robyn's Fetish Challenge!

This week, we are sponsored by My Heart Pieces and the winner will receive THREE images of their choice! Fabulous, right?

Our theme this week is PAPER PIECING and I got to use a cute image from the My Heart Pieces Shop called: "Bathing Fairy". You can find it HERE.

As you know, I did a little paper piecing for last week's project, too, for my bee's body and wings... it really is quite fun to see a digital image come to life with patterned paper and it adds so much depth and texture to a project.

When my boys were babies, we always used the Johnson's Lavender scented body wash for them, because it did tend to sooth and relax them when it was bed time... so when I saw the bath image, I was thinking relaxation and chose to work with the "Chateau Lavender" mat stack from DCWV...

I cut out the tea cup, the flowers, the stem, the wings, the slippers, the shampoo bottle, the comb, and the sunglasses! WHEW! That's a lot of fussy cutting!!

The bubbles are a mixture of liquid pearls (white opal) and Stickles (diamond). In real life, they look all shimmery and "bubbly"! (-:

The swirly background is from Bird's Cards... she has some of the most amazing FREE SVG files!! This one is called "Swirly Frame 6"... let me tell you, frames one through five are JUST as fantastic!!! I cut the frame in white, the shadow layer in lavender, then popped it on a stipey piece...

The polka dotted flower behind my fairy was cut with the "Blossom" Nestie then trimmed out in more Stickles...

Every paper on the card came from one mat stack! Aren't I all "Matchy-Matchy" this week? LOL!!

I hope you'll join us this week over at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog for Challenge Number 146... Paper Piecing is so fun, I really hope you'll give it a try!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #145: Have a Heart

This week, the challenge at the Robyn's Fetish challenge blog is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish!
The winner will receive their choice of any THREE images from the Robyn's Fetish Store!

The theme of the challenge this week is:
"Have a Heart": the only twist is that your creation must include THREE hearts!

I used "Bee Mine", which comes with it's own sentiment as well!

I wanted to take a second to share a little trick I learned for paper-piecing with dark or black papers.
It might be obvious to some, but to others it may be their "Ah-Hah Moment", so here ya go:

Print the image on yellow paper, then flip the image and print it on the BACK of the black/patterned paper. It makes it easier to see the image and cut out the pieces of his wings and body to piece into place!

And don't be afraid to print digis on colored paper... there's no reason to print on white paper, then color it all yellow, right?

The bee hive is an SVG file I found a long time ago... see THIS POST!

That's about it for this week!
See you all over at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog!
