Is it really Sunday already??

Wow! This week sure did fly by fast!!
Before I show you my card this week for the Robyn's Fetish Challenge, I wanted to take a second to tell you about my experience Thursday night at Target!
I have NEVER gone "Black Friday" shopping and to think that the stores were actually opening on Thanksgiving Day really bugged me just a little bit! But we went to visit my MIL and she saw some deals too great to pass up in their "Doorbusters" ad, so we braved the crowd to try our luck!

When we arrived at Target at 8:40, there was already a line halfway around the building and the security people were handing out slips of colored paper. Their explanation was: "When we open at 9, we're letting in 30 people at a time, in intervals, and we're separating the groups of 30 with these slips"... OK...
We found our place at the end of the line and at 9pm, the line started inching forward... a little bit at a time, we got closer to the front doors... by 9:06, we were inside the store!!
Nice and orderly, no pushing, shoving, trampeling, or chaos at ALL!!

All the "Doorbuster" items were in piles in the main aisle as we walked in the door and there were LOTS of each thing in the ad!! I snagged a deal or two (-:

The electronics department was roped off and there was a line to get in, but, again, it was very calm and orderly and it seemed like there were plenty of products to go around!

We got what we came for and went to check out. There was an employee at the end of the roped off cashier's area directing traffic along the back wall, through the grocery department and along the side wall... we found our place at the end of the line, and when we got to the check out area, there was a guy directing everyone to registers... We were out the door by 9:52!!

I couldn't believe how PLEASANT the whole experience was!

Three cheers for Target in Gates, NY (outside Rochester) for an outstanding experience!!
Thank you for having everything planned out and SO very organized and orderly!

OK... that's really all I wanted to say!!
Now, my card for this week:

The challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Blog this week is:

Black and White plus ONE other color!

Our sponsor is "Floppy Latte Designs"!

I got to work with "Love my Striped Bonnet"... I traced the image in E-CAL, then cut out the flowers in pink. This card took about 10 minutes to complete, from start-to-finish, but I love how it turned out!

OK, I'll admit, coming up with the "idea" took a little longer... but once I decided what I was going to do, it was done lickety-split! (-:

I used a sketch from Seems a Little Sketchy...

I hope you'll stop over to visit the Robyn's Fetish Challenge this week and join our Black and White plus One challenge!!

Make it Vintage with Robyn's Fetish and ADFD

The new challenge at the

"Make it Vintage"

Our sponsor is A Day for Daisies!

Our team was allowed  to choose from the wide variety
of vintage images from the ADFD Shop!

I chose to work with Vintage School Girl One

To me, when I saw our challenge was "Vintage",
I thought "old", like it came out of Grandma's cedar chest.

To get that "old" look, here's what I did:

I was inspired by the Chateau Lavender Mat Stack from DCWV.
Some of the papers in that pack are just stunning
with the texture and glitter... WOW!

I distressed all my edges with scissors then inked the edges
with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Ink
and cut the cameo frame with my eClips.

To get the "old" look around my school girl, I colored her with Copics,
ripped her out of the card stock to get that torn-looking edge,
then spritzed her with a little water.
I crumpled her into a ball to let the inks run,
then flattened it out to air dry.
While it was still damp, I inked the edges with TH Tea Dye.

I made the roses with my eClips and some
home-made shimmer spray.

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out
and I hope you'll join us this week
at the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog
to show us how YOU

Thanks for stopping in.
See you next time!

Anything Goes this week at Robyn's Fetish

This week, the challenge at the Robyn's Fetish Blog is ANYTHING GOES!
I just love "Anything Goes", because it means I don't have any rules!!

Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish and
we got to pick any image we wanted from the RF Shop.

The first thing I thought of when I saw "Prissy Poinsettia" was decoupage

How ironic that Sue's Craftworld Tutorial last week was how to do this!

I had already created my card when her tut was posted,
but the timing could not have been more perfect!!!

It saves me a lot of time explaining how I did it!
Just click the link to Sue's tutorial...
that is exactly the same technique I used for this poinsettia!!

I did cut a few shapes with my Eclips:

the Scalloped Square from SVGCuts Nested Lacey Shapes
the Doily from SVGCuts Doilies SVG Collection,
and the tag from the ECal library.

A little green for the leaves, some gold Stickles for the berries and around the doily tips,
the background is a Sizzix embossing folder (I think it's called "frosty" or something like that),
and some glitter tape from my friend Cori at Gingersnap Scraps...

I can't say this was "easy", because fussy-cutting those flower petals was pretty time consuming,
but it was definitely not "difficult"!
It was fun and I think it turned out looking pretty classy and elegant
for some plain white paper and glitter glue!  (-:

Robyn's Fetish Card for a Man

OK, so today we're starting the Robyn's Fetish Challenge a little late.

We still haven't heard from our DT Coordinator (she is in New Jersey) and I just can't get her out of my head! Especially after seeing the new storm that is heading our way! My thoughts and prayers go out to all those still struggling with the "Franken-storm" aftermath!!

Our challenge is sponsored this week by The Crafty Pad.

The theme of the challenge is Cards for Men, and this is one of my biggest challenges! I always lean toward the "cute" and "girly", so I had to reach inside for this one!

The image I got to play with is "Albert Snoozin". He comes with a cute sentiment "A Man's Work is Never Done", but it didn't ring any bells for me in terms of getting creative. The image just makes me think of my dad, who will be turning 69 next month! Last Spring, he took my boys on several fishing expeditions and they even caught a few! I made a door hanging for him, sorta like one of those ones you see in shop windows when they've left for lunch... hopefully they really will be back soon!

I colored the image with Copics, then added a little MS Glitter on the water. A little glitter tape border and the "Swiss Dots" embossing folder really added quite a bit of texture. The hands on the clock really move and I can't remember the name of the font... just one of the many thousands I've hoarded! (-:

Here's a closer look at Albert... quite a handsome fella, don'cha think? I know my Dad doesn't follow my blog, so I think this will be a cute gift for him! (-:

I hope you'll stop over to the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog to take a look at the marvelous manly cards my teammies have created and if you're up for a challenge, why don't you give this one a try!?!
